Grown-up Camp
Forget the soggy bathing suits strung on a line, crafts made of macaroni and trick-playing fellow campers – I'll take this kind of summer camp any day! The Point in the Adirondacks offers grown-up summer camp, so you can enjoy your canoe trip, but end the evening with a gourmet meal, cocktails and champagne on an antique boat, then lounge in your own luxurious room with a wood-burning fireplace and custom-made bedding.
Okay it's not cheap – this is a Relais & Chateaux resort – but check it out for a special occasion. www.thepointresort.com
We're Thinking Mexico
I was checking out Costa Careyes on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and drooling over the stunning villas, which cost $7000 a night. To start. But then I saw these adorable Playa Rosa bungalows. There are just three of them, right on Careyes Bay, with rates starting at $240. One of these would do just fine. The resort is 2 ¼ hours south of Puerto Vallarta and about one hour north of Manzanillo International Airport. www.careyes.com/

Pick of the Week
The hardest part of packing for travel for me is the shoes. Probably because my expectations are so high. They have to:
• Be comfortable enough to run through airports and walk miles a day while sightseeing.
No way I'm missing anything because my feet hurt!
• Have to be really stylish and go with several things I own.
• Be breathable so my feet stay cool, even near the equator.
So I'm really excited to try out my first pairs of Geox shoes. Not only do they offer dozens of cute styles and are really comfortable and lightweight, they are made with shoe breathing technology. Invented in Italy, the technology combines a waterproof membrane with a perforated rubber sole so perspiration passes right on through. Shoes on sale start at $49.50 and regularly priced go to $175 at www.shopgeox.com
