Want to know the best place to see bears in Alaska? Take a sled ride or cheer a midnight baseball game? As anyone who has visited Alaska knows (and everyone should visit our 49th state), there are so many options of fun, adventure, nature and culture that it can get downright confusing. But don’t worry. Travel writers Fran Golden and Midgi Moore have narrowed down the best Alaskan experiences in their new book, 100 Things to Do in Alaska Before You Die.
The book covers where to experience the “traditional Alaskan” activities such as walking on a glacier, enjoying a salmon bake and whale watching but it also captures some of the more unusual activities such as doing yoga accompanied by a reindeer, exploring ice caves, and even seeing Russia from your window (on Little Diomede Island).
The book is a fun read with chapters on Food and Drink, Parks and Recreation, History and Culture, Amusements and Entertainment and Photo Ops. It also lists suggested itineraries as well as activities by season. $20.
