Who doesn’t love visiting a winery? No one we know. But, visiting a winery in the middle of winter — in a location that gets a lot of wintery blasts — is maybe a different question. But it shouldn’t be! Northern Michigan offers a variety of wintertime activities, such as ice skating, hiking, fat-tire biking and cross country skiing. But how about wine tours? You bet!
Delamar Traverse City, a luxurious resort on the West Bay of Lake Michigan, offers Sip & Snowshoe Vineyard Packages and daily wine tours. With the Delamar Traverse City serving as the base camp, go up to the Old Mission Peninsula for tastings from Peninsula Cellars, Brys Estate Vineyards and Chateau Chantal Winery. Each visit is about 45 minutes and transportation is provided. Guests are responsible for the payment of tastings and poured glasses.
The Sip & Snowshoe Vineyard Package also includes a complimentary bottle of Bowers Harbor Pinot Grigio, access to the VIP Bowers Harbor wine club lounge, complimentary breakfast and complimentary snowshoe rentals.
When you get back, enjoy the hotel’s many amenities such as an indoor and outdoor heated pool with sauna and hot tub, and dining at the Artisan Waterfront Restaurant & Tavern, that features fresh seafood, farm fresh fare from onsite gardens and local farms as well as homemade pastries.
