Milkhouse Candle Creamery’s candles are straight from the heartland

The candles from Milkhouse Candle Creamery are as wholesome as… well, milk itself. Made in Osage, IA., a town of less than 3,500 people, Milkhouse Candle Creamery makes soy candles infused with pure beeswax – all from the local agriculture.
Don’t worry about not finding a favorite scent — they offer 50 — one for each state. Among the scents are apple strudel, buds & berries,  pappy’s pipe, sticky buns, cup o’ joe, cranberry Amaretto and vanilla.
Started by Eric and Janet Sparrow, the company blends waxes of pure beeswax and natural soy wax from soybeans grown in America’s Midwest. No artificial dyes are added and there is no lead in the wicks. The waxes provides a safe and clean-burning alternative to paraffin candles.
In keeping with the Americana theme, Milkhouse candles are in homespun containers such as butter jars, Cappi Mugs, and milkbottles.  They recently started an earthenware crock collection ( 6-, 8- and 48-ounce crock jars, vintage-style cookie jars and loaf pans) that can be reused after the long-burning candle finally is extinguished. Various prices.
