An Omaha landmark, the 1915 Blackstone Hotel, recently underwent a $75 million reinvention and opened last November as the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, and the 205-room property is serving as a key development in the renaissance of the city’’s Blackstone District. The Cottonwood is also Kimpton’s first hotel in Nebraska. The Blackstone district thrived during the mid-1880’s with beautiful stone and brick residences but the homes turned into boarding homes after the stock market crash. Recently, the area is starting a revitalization with new shops, restaurants and clubs.
The hotel was meticulously restored and renovated by leading global design firms LEO A DALY and DLR Group, and offers five food and beverage concepts, 13,500 square feet of meetings and event space, including two grand ballrooms, a seasonal resort-style swimming pool and Pool Club, a solarium and a rooftop terrace with views of downtown Omaha.
For food-lovers, The Cottonwood is home to five different food and beverage concepts all of which use local purveyors, including the Orleans Room, perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with a lively after-hours bar scene and Petit Orleans for easy grab and go pastries, coffee drinks and teas. In addition, there is The Cottonwood Room, an intimate lounge with a curated menu of filling selections; The Committee, the Cottonwood’s chophouse serving lunch and dinner, and The Pool Club, a poolside spot with lighter, warm-weather fare.
The hotel offers complimentary PUBLIC bikes as well as three-wheeled, six-person electric transportation service. Guests will enjoy the art collection made up entirely of Nebraskan artists. There are 205 guest rooms and suites, including 21 suites.
